Food and Design

Hello me fellow Designers

I hope you all did a great job with your packages, because i have a really funny story to tell you.
So i think you all went through the book i brought to class which includes a lot of packaging templates, and you also know that i did not attend the last class we had and i totally forgot to ask about what we need next. Finally, i discovered that we were supposed to present our packages for next class and where is my book and CD? still with my lovely professor! however i tried not to panic, and looked for alternatives which were all around the web.

“My Idea”

So while looking through the packages one certain package caught my eye, a house package!

before you think im totally crazy here listen first. Food, something to relate to me and everyone else! but in this case i thought of “take aways” a term we hear a lot when we actually wanna eat a certain restaurants food but wanna stay home, yes, thats how lazy we are. What i thought of also is parcels, havent you sat in a restaurant and realized you have ordered too much and wanna take the rest back home? so now we’re getting close, my idea fits both aspects, A TAKE AWAY PACKAGE!

So instead of having a boring paper/plastic bag, i thought of something nice to carry…

What is “FD Shelter”?

Food and design shelter, is a place where designers have the chance to present their work within the restaurant’s environment and all other people gather to give the place a look every now and then to see different work by different designers, and lets not forget that its a restaurant and food is included! i think your all wondering why i called it a shelter not a restaurant, i thought the word shelter gives you a safe and secure feeling, thats what any person need, and i thought designers should also feel secure about presenting their work freely without being judged by anyone, and i thought the word food in the beginning still defines that food is served also.

So as you see this is the template of the package i chose, and since i know that my book had the package i didn’t want to buy it, so i just copied it for now!

so i printed the template and decided to have few mock ups so i can determine where to place things, i started by numbering the big parts which i thought might be importants and then like the previous exercises i folded it

Then i started with the design,

What am i doing ? i creating different people here ! so i use the font called “Automind” and when i found this font i thought nearly all the letter make a good smily face! or you know what i mean! so i just added two dots for every letter and they looked like different people! so yea, this represents different designers from different aspects mingling with other people and inviting them to their world 😀

P.S. the info written is not real ! i just used it as a mock up !

 take me home! a phrase that i thought fits well with the purpose of the package, its made for take aways which end up at your home! 😀
